As a creator, the idea of being a 'digital serf' feels incredibly accurate right now. I love Joe’s point that being pro-AI and pro-compensation aren't mutually exclusive. We need these 'digital building codes' to ensure the next generation of artists can actually afford to keep creating.

It's a solid effort and I too was partaking in things like prompts that showed care for animals & wildlife for awhile, but I'd be more hopeful knowing that there's an actual AI company that's "counter-training" AI - specifically feeding it on pro-human & animals, plants, nature models/input!
I think the easier comparison here is that derivations from an original work are paid for (licensing fees) and AI output being derivational should be paid for. Period.
Bravo for shining alight on this Feudal BS AI Stealing Content system! But Is is not already too late as they have already sucked up everything that has ever existed on the internet? Is the best I can hope for is a Class Action Suit - a slap on the billionaire tech bro wrist check for 10-20 dollars for all my life’s creative work that I put up online thinking copy rights would protect my IP? But we live in a new lawless or law by and for the rich time Wild West greed era. Brilliant pioneer in Virtual Reality Jaron Lanier said we all should have gotten paid for our data (new oil?) 20+ years ago! He stopped talking about it when Microsoft gave him a cushy, highly paid creative guru position over a decade ago. Thus I feel until this greed based Feudal Tech Bro internet model changes - which I feel will take a while if ever - I think we who are sane, intelligent and have progressive ideals need to feed the future AI oracles that will control the show - hopefully for the better. But we need to plant seeds of love and beauty now to counter all the hate and ugliness floating around the world wide web-o-sphere! But please keep on keeping on speaking truth to power! Maybe there will be economic justice for we creators someday but it will take time and a fixed US Democracy to fix the horrible situation. Until then…
