There should be a law that when you create something like AI that's going to impact everybody's lives that the people who created it should also create a guide for people so that regular people can understand and use AI, I'm sick of people creating technology and dumping it onto people's lives , you can't order food in certain restaurants without scanning a QR code for example, what if you don't know how to use a smartphone? Are you just excluded from eating there? Id need computer skills to get certain jobs with no idea where to get those skills from. I'm just fed up of people dumping these things on my life and expecting me to run around figuring out how it works without even giving me a clue where to start. Were going to get to a point in society where you don't have a choice of wether you use technology, you'll just have to and iff that happens it should be legally required that the companies who make the technology give you full and easy to access to instructions on how to use that technology. Technology is supposed to open all sorts of doors for humanity, but without clear instructions on how to use it, it just feels like all kinds of doors are being slammed in your face to the point that you can't really interact with much of life anymore.
It's not even necessarily people who don't know how to use the technology. Some people would just prefer not to use it. For example, I always go to the cashier when I buy anything. Despite having self-check outs available, I refuse to use them. Not because I don't know how to use the systems, but because cashiers are people and I prefer to support human beings.
They gave us a truck full of gadgets and cables and computers and satellite but no manual as to how to assemble and operate the early warning systems communications 😅🤣😂
Brilliant, incredibly well-written speech, Gordon! You spoke as a true ambassador for humanity and as one spectacular human. Thank you for your unique crafting of words that are resonating with so many hearts around the globe. 💜🌎
Great speech! I was pretty excited (and proud) as well to see you talking about AI governance at the United Nations. Thank you for raising awareness and for trying to make the world a little better. We have the EU AI Act in Europe, which is a great start, but it's important for other nations to also implement such regulations and follow the example of the EU.
I appreciate the desire to govern AI and there are definite benefits to that, we should also acknowledge the potential downsides of AI even from a governance perspective.
Are you familiar with the concept in AI called "Perverse Instantiation"? It's sometimes referred to as the "trickster genie" principle, just to give you some basis of reference. Just because we give AI governance structures doesn't mean it will end positively for humanity or individual people. We could end up making things so much worse.
Great speech Joe. You were very clear and to the point. Let’s hope folks will be inspired to be pro-active in the governance of this technology. We truly are at a crossroads 🫣
Well said Joe. We need to learn from history (always), and in this case it is recent history, this century in fact.
Also - as an aside - in my opinion - you came across so very credible and professional, clean shaven and in your sharp suit. In fairness it shouldn't matter. But it does. And it always will.
Great job. I hope the right people listened and will act appropriately.
That short speech packed a lot of punch! Great job, sir!
Thank you so much for using your voice and your agency to help all of us. You are a treasure.

This was my experience in the Army

Generative AI has no good qualities.
Well said. Great job Jo..... (may I call you Jo?) Thank you for sharing and thank you for just being a good human. Cheers!
AI doesn't exist without people
Just finished a grad level ethics in publishing class at @GWU and AI is really having a negative and positive impact all over. It's a difficult topic.

Gordon-Levitt 2028!
Hey, it could happen
Excellent and really well delivered!
Thank you Joe for your wise words. AI needs regulation, and the EU has taken action; I hope the US and other nations will follow our example.
This is absolutely brilliant. Thank you Joe!
